A perfect day on Arthur Avenue
After a beautiful morning at the New York Botanical Garden, Amanda planned the perfect day for us and a group of friends exploring Arthur Avenue, a street in the Belmont area of the Bronx that is often referred to as the Bronx’s “Little Italy.” She researched and planned the most thoughtful day to at once give us a wide sampling of the area’s most popular offerings and also cater to our group’s individual tastes (…hence the multiple stops for cannoli!)
The agenda (as with all things Amanda does, the order is intentional!):
Artuso Bakery: Cannoli
Prince Coffee House: Coffee
Randazzo’s Seafood: oysters & clams; has small tables outside
Arthur Ave Retail Market: Take-away goods!
Calabria Pork Store: meat goods to go
Mike’s Deli: Sandwiches
Enzo’s: Stop in for a plate + wine (can do later too; open 12-10pm)
Teitel Brothers: Jewish deli; buy some goods to take away. Family-owned for nearly 100 years!
Full Moon Pizza: share a calzone or take a stromboli to go
Casa Della Mozzarella: fresh mozz on sandos to share
Cosenza’s Fish Market: clam & oyster bar; eat standing outside
Delillo Pastry Shop: cannoli to go
Borgatti’s Ravioli & Egg Noodles: takeaway fresh pasta
