A short and sweet afternoon in Greenpoint

Here’s your itinerary for a perfect little afternoon in Greenpoint — great for a solo date or for enjoying with a friend!

Anastasia Inciardi's food-themed mini art print vending machine at Big Night, Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Start at Big Night, a shop with the cutest, most on-trend curation of kitchen, dining, and entertaining products as well as pantry foods. In my basket this time around: brightly-colored mosaic tile coasters, a pasta-shaped candle, and pickled tinned mussels. While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up a food-themed mini print by Anastasia Inciardi for just $1 - bring quarters!

Big Night, 154 Franklin St., Brooklyn. Closed Mondays. Note that the mini print machine has since left this location.

Word bookstore in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Next, take yourself to WORD bookstore to browse their bright, diverse selection of books. Don’t miss the greeting cards along the right-hand wall of the store — they have one of the best assortments I’ve seen! I loved the NYC-themed watercolor cards by Margaret Joy enough that I later picked up a print from her shop!

WORD, 126 Franklin St., Brooklyn. Open daily 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Tacos at Taqueria Ramirez, Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Finally, hit up Taqueria Ramírez for truly the best tacos in NYC. I especially love the campechano, but the al pastor is another super-popular option. (For pescatarians and vegetarians, you’ll be going with the taco de nopales.) Top a pair with accompaniments from the salsa bar, and add a cup of their delicious consomé, and you have the perfect midday meal.

Taqueria Ramirez, 94 Franklin St., Brooklyn. Open 12:00-10:00 p.m. daily.
